STAR Receives $25,000 Grant from Walmart Foundation

The STAR Center announced today that it has received a $25,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation – State Giving Program. The STAR Center’s mission is closely aligned with that of the Walmart Foundation - to support organizations with programs that create opportunities so people can live better. The grant from the Walmart Foundation will help the STAR Center to provide educational needs to youth ages 12-25 and job skills/readiness training for adults with disabilities.

“The STAR Center is extremely grateful to the Walmart Foundation – State Giving program for selecting us to receive this funding. We are completely invested in helping children and adults in Jackson and surrounding communities meet their goals of education, independence, and employment,” said John Borden, CEO, STAR Center.

Walmart believes in a philosophy of operating globally and giving back locally. They are proud to be a "store of the community" for all of the communities they serve by helping to provide financial and volunteer support to more than 100,000 charitable and community-focused organizations. The Walmart Foundation strives to provide opportunities that improve the lives of individuals in the communities that they serve. Through financial contributions, in-kind donations and volunteerism, the Walmart Foundation supports initiatives focused on enhancing opportunities in the areas of Education, Workforce Development/Economic Opportunity, Environmental Sustainability, and Health and Wellness. The Walmart Foundation and their Tennessee Advisory Council believe that the STAR Center is doing important work for the West Tennessee community and they are proud to support the STAR Center’s efforts.
