Harold, the gray, skinny goose
He didn't look at all like a moose He had a long skinny neck And he liked to take his beak and give it a peck He honked at night to make me smile His best friend was Mattie, all the while He laid gray eggs just for me And I will miss my friend Harold, you see! Maria composed this song in one of her weekly Music Therapy sessions. She arrived very saddened by the death of her pet goose, Harold, who had passed away that morning. Through the process of songwriting and the product of singing it, Maria was given an avenue to deal with her grief. At the conclusion of her session, Maria's affect had significantly improved and she requested the opportunity to 'perform' her song for her parents and sister in the lobby. |
