Information Systems is also responsible for ensuring that a variety of alternative communications options are available, both to reduce dependency on the telephone as a primary communications medium and to allow people who cannot use the telephone to communicate efficiently when face-to-face communication is not available. These options include email, workstation-to-workstation messaging, TTY devices, and voice mail.
