"I came to the STAR Center with a definite goal in mind. The staff members tailored my computer training to meet my needs. The resulting program has helped me develop new skills and strengthen old ones. The most important thing I've learned, however, is that it's ok to be me. The Center's warm atmosphere has given me courage to live life and use my talents to the fullest. The camaraderie among classmates facing similar challenges has given me strength to persevere through some difficult tasks."

In Job Tracks training clients become efficient with:
  • Computer Skills
  • Microsoft Workplace Software
  • Soft Skills
  • Telephone Techniques
  • Interviewing Skills
  • Basic Resume Creation
  • Attitude/Teamwork Skills
  • Job Readiness
  • Workplace Ethics
The STAR Center's Job Tracks program provides everything a person with disabilities needs to prepare for and obtain competitive employment.  Computer and vocational evaluations result in an Individualized Plan for Employment detailing recommendations for training, services, and career field. These self-paced services are provided for as long as it takes each individual to reach his unique employment goal. In the training sessions, individuals are provided all the adaptive tools, technology, training, support, and services needed to be successful in achieving employment. While training, clients will begin working with The STAR Center's Job Placement staff to prepare for and apply for job openings in their preferred community.

Job Tracks Instructors regularly research the current job market in West Tennessee and survey some local employers through the Chamber of Commerce about their job needs.  This research ensures that the current Job Tracks Training Modules are still the most relevant and most valuable, as well as reveals if any new or additional Tracks are warranted that may be more in line with the current workforce needs.

If you are an employer, Job Tracks can:
  • Assist you in developing a consistent and dependable source of new employees from an untapped workforce of reliable, dedicated individuals.
  • Develop a training program to prepare potential employees for ongoing positions openings with your company.
If you are an individual with a disability, Job Tracks and Job Placement can:
  • Help you identify a job that matches your interests and abilities.
  • Assist you in preparing for a job through technology training.
  • Aid you in applying for and obtaining a job.
  • Provide the skills and follow-along coaching to enable you to successfully maintain employment.
